Architects Luca Rossire & Riccardo Salvi commissioned Innermost
to design and build a ‘supersize me’ version of Tina
Leung’s Kaboom shade for a restaurant in Via Tortona Milan. The result is a 150cm diameter
seamless shade that uses multiple clusters of Kaboom’s fabric
to build the form.
BA refused to let the item on the plane at the last moment and
after a lot of frantic checking Innermost managed to fly the shade
to Zurich where distributor Neweba hired a truck to drive the monster
shade over the Alps and into Milan.
We are very grateful to Stefan from Neweba who managed to complete
the installation moments before the first champagne cork popped.
Home is the real home of owner Monica Bagnari; each area of the
restaurant is themed around a part of the home; including a functioning
bathroom within one eating area. When the doors close and the customers
and staff have left; the space once again becomes Monica’s
home…
Home is located at Via Tortona 12, Milan. If you are frequent visitor
to Superstudio Piu you probably know the area; just before you
cross the bridge to Porta Geneva.
The shade is available from Innermost if anyone would like one,
price on application.
